During twenty plus years of research I read numerous papers as to cancer’s ultimate cause. You find numerous scholarly and medical papers on Viruses, Bacteria and Fungal causes of cancer. Lots of studies, all give you some great insight into the nature of cancer and how it works.
So, which of these studies is correct? Would you believe they pretty much are all correct? It isn’t at all unusual to find specific agents in the form of viruses, fungus and other bacteria present where there is cancer. If we give that a little thought we realize there is nothing unusual about that. And, that said, it isn’t clear all cancers are caused by specific viruses, specific fungi or other specific bacteria.
My experience has been fungus and other bacteria are more prevalent or common in conjunction with cancer than viruses. I’m not prepared to argue whether they caused a specific cancer or just are present as collateral symptoms of a cancer.

It is nice to know these symptoms can be addressed by two common old line antibiotics which have been well tested for safety and efficacy. One of these is Doxycycline addressed in an earlier post. (Doxycycline in cancer treatment.)
The second, Oral Nystatin is the main subject of today’s post. Nystatin, like Doxycycline can also be immensely useful for long term cancer survivors that are managing so called incurable cancer. I’m speaking specifically of blood cancers such as follicular non-Hodgkin’s Lympoma (fNHL), Leukemia and the soft tumor cancers like breast cancer.
Often prescribed in the oral form for Candida and other yeast type infections, Nystatin can safely be taken from a few days up to several months. Additionally, Nystatin in a low dose form may be taken safely for months and years for the management of cancer. And we are not aware of any drug interactions with Nystatin. Side effects are normally mild or non-existent. Most reported side effects were diarrhea, nausea, upset stomach and vomiting.
Nystatin dosage – most tablets are 500,000 units ea. - 1 tablets 3 x a day is usually sufficient dose. Begin with 1 a day and increase by 1 tablet a day until you are up to the total dose.
Your symptoms may initially flare as the fungi die off. If this occurs, decrease the dose and then increase the Nystatin more slowly or stop for awhile until symptoms decrease.
In severe cases – 500,000 units ea. – 2 tablets 3 x day or up to 3,000,000 units total daily.
The Nystatin is usually taken initially for 3 to 6 months although some who wish to limit antibiotic use will cut back to 1 Nystatin 500,000 unit tablet daily after being cancer symptom free for 60 days.
A few individuals have taken this one tablet “low dose” of Nystatin for extended periods exceeding one year. There does not seem to be any studies supporting or validating this long term low dose use of Nystatin except anecdotal cancer survivor testimonials. (See below)
You can repeat Nystatin for 4 to 6 weeks (or longer) anytime you have recurrent cancer symptoms.
*The down side, Nystatin is a powerful antibiotic and as such may affect the bacteria in the digestive system. While studies show Nystatin discriminates against Candida and not the good flora of the digestive system we still recommend you not indiscriminately use Nystatin without taking this into account. It has been reported some patients suffer allergy to Nystatin. This means you may want to limit full dose Nystatin to several weeks and strongly consider supplementing with Syntol AMD, FiveLac or another professional grade probiotic. (Over the counter drugstore brands are rarely useful. They just don’t contain enough of the essential good bacteria.)
It’s also recommended you take Undecenoic Acid (available online through McCombsPlan.com or through vendors of Thorne Inc.SF722) to inhibit the conversion of Candida yeast into its Candida fungal form and several orthomolecular detoxification supporters such as Vitamin C.
It would be a shame to ingnore your guts good flora, cure cancer and end up wrestling with systemic Candida. Nuff said. The following video, although not about cancer, will give you a good overview of how Nystatin works and any safety concerns that accompany it.
Anonymous Cancer Survivor Nystatin Testimonial: “Candida – My doctor put me on Nystatin, a prescription drug for fungal overgrowth. I have more details if anyone is interested, but I have found a significant correlation between pain in my lymph nodes in the groin, percent cancerous cells, and whether or not I’m on the Nystatin. I continue to stay on a low dose of this drug. And when I’m on the Nystatin, all sinus problems have been resolved (and I have had serious sinus problems). Makes you wonder, at least a little, if previous posts on this board, and Dr. Simoncini (cancer is a fungus guy) might be onto something.”
