Candida detoxification to manage and/or cure cancer is a reality in alternative and allopathic medicine of the 21st century.
Parts 1 and 2 described my friends approach to ridding himself of a serious Candida overgrowth which may have also been systematic candidiasis.. His symptoms were serious enough he had no doubts as to the source of his problems. His approach was both correct and effective, completely resolving his Candida challenge over a 30 day period.
He was fortunate as many individuals, with serious Candida challenges, require much more time and often intervention with special anti-fungus drugs to straighten there digestive systems out. Cancer survivors, especially those who have undergone chemotherapy or radiation are especially prone to Candida overgrowth events. My belief is this phenomenon is due the weakened state of their immune systems.
Given the good diet of knowledgeable cancer survivors you would think they would be less prone to Candida. However, given their weakened immune system status and some of their frequent use of antibiotics the opposite is true. Candida is even more pronounced in those that suffer with the blood cancers such as Hodgkin’s, non-Hodgkin and Leukemia where Candida is prevalent (and often untreated) in a percentage approaching 100%.
Cancer survivors seeming not plagued with Candida are those on raw food juicing diets and those taking pro-active interventions to prevent Candida. Since most cancer survivors are unable or unwilling to make juicing a 60% or higher part of their diet we’ll address them.
How does the cancer survivor spot they are having Candida related problems? 1st, there are half a dozen medical tests your physician can perform. If you have great insurance and a medical doctor you have confidence in this would be a great first choice. For those preferring to tackle Candida on their own what follows may be of help.
The list of Candida symptoms is extensive, varied and could apply to numerous other chronic illnesses. Here goes. A history of ADD, ADHD, hyperactivy, skin problems, respitory problems and/or intestinal problems as a child; poor endurance and weakness, asthma, bronchitis, habitual coughing without phlegm, runny nose, hay fever, frequent headaches and fatigue, especially after eating; poor digestion, loose or constipated stools, IBS, frequent and painful gas, bloating, nausea and vomiting; recurring throat and/or ear infections, recurring vaginal, oral, or skin (yeast) infections, urinary tract infections, athlete’s foot, jock itch, skin rash, dry, brownish patches on the skin, ringworm, psoriasis, low grade fever, chronic sinus problems, blisters on the tongue, in the mouth, or in the throat; menstrual difficulties, male impotence, male and female infertility; anxiety, panic attacks, depression, irritability, paranoia, poor concentration, feelings of being ‘hung over’, schizophrenia and mental instability; arthritis symptoms, joint pain, cravings for carbohydrates, chronic dental problems and white coating on tongue. Now, if that doesn’t cover every one on the face of the earth I’m not sure what would.
Candida is a genus or sub-group of naturally occurring yeasts, which includes about 154 different species. Among these species, five are the most clinically significant because of their capacity to cause infections in their human hosts.
- Candida Albicans - Also referred to as monilia, this is the most common type of candida and is the most common cause of systematic candidiasis.
- Candida Glabrata - Candida glabrata, previously referred to as Torulopsis glabrata, is a type of candida that is becoming a leading cause of oral candidiasis. It is particularly prevalent among people who have weakened or compromised immune systems, such as the elderly, cancer patients and people who are HIV positive.
- Candida Tropicalis - is a relatively more benign type of candida. It most commonly occurs in the digestive tract and can also be found on the skin.
- Candida Parapsilosis - is of a type of candida that is of particular concern to hospitals. It has become a significant causal agent for sepsis.
- Candida Krusei - is a rare type of candida that is mainly found in immunocompromised human hosts. Prevalence in hospital environments has been associated with the prophylactic use of antifungals. Like candida parapsilosis, candida krusei has a high natural resistance to standard anti-fungal treatments.
Approximately 35% of Candida cases are “non-Albicans”.
Here are the symptoms that should immediately jump out at cancer patients and cancer survivors in descending order.
- Return of cancer symptoms
- Unable to urinate w/o defecating
- “Leaky Gut”
- Poorly formed stool encased in mucus
- Stingy mucus with blood
- Small dry stool in shape of cottage cheese curd
- Painful urination
- Itchy privates or crotch
- White coating on tongue
- Strong Sugar Cravings
If you suffer one or more of first six symptoms (1 – 6) assume you have Candida and immediately see your physician and/or start an aggressive Candida detoxification program similar to the one detailed in Candida Detoxification - Part 2.
If you suffer three or more of the last six symptoms (7 – 12) assume you have Candida and immediately start the aggressive Candida detoxification program.
The cornerstone of Candida detoxification is the coffee enema. There are numerous variations on the internet, one of which you should feel comfortable with. Don’t know where to start? Use the method outlined in part 2 of Candida detoxification. The musts are regular (not decaffeinated) organic coffee beans or organic ground coffee, glass or stainless steel cookware, and a two quart enema bag or enema kit. I like to use 3 tablespoons of ground organic coffee to two quarts of warm water.
The active ingredients in coffee enemas appear to be kahweol and cafestol, the palmitate constituent of green coffee beans. Coffee enemas also appear to stimulate the activation of the glutathione-S-transferase Phase II enzymes which catalyse the conjugation reactions of xenobiotics with glutathione.
The probiotics you choose to replenish what is called “good bacteria” are extremely important. The average over the counter probiotics at the corner drug store will not suffice. You need what I call “professional grade” probiotics. Pdazzler recommends Syntol AMD or FiveLac. There are numerous others that are satisfactory. What you are looking for is very high totals of the healthy bacteria per dose. Pdazzler recommends 6 – 8 Syntol AMD capsules daily (or equivalent) for a minimum of 30 days following the start of your regimen. (Or at least two weeks beyond the disappearance of all symptoms whichever comes last.)
Most, with a moderate to severe fungus overgrowth (usually Candida), require 60 – 120 days to clear a Candida overgrowth. Those that accomplish a Candida cleanse in less than 90 days are the exceptions, rather than the rule. I contribute this to three factors:
- Everyone’s body is different. How one reacts to anti-fungus supplements, prescription antifungals and probiotics is highly individualized.
- The average person is not able to stay on the strict anti-Candida diet for the period of time required. Yeast loves sugar and simple carbohydrates. Avoiding cheeses, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, fresh fruits, fermented foods, mushrooms, vinegar, glutinous foods (wheat, rye, barley), all sugars, honeys and syrup, and foods that contain yeast or mold (breads, muffins, cakes, baked goods, cheese, dried fruits, melons) is more than most can endure.
- The average individual refuses to take sufficient levels of probiotics to repopulate the good bacteria in a relatively short time. It takes 100’s of billions of good bacteria to overcome a moderate to severe case of Candida. Get a professional grade probiotic initially and save your frustration and money. If you are cheating on your anti-Candida diet you will need many more probiotics to overcome it.
The balancing act is taking your probiotics between meals and taking your Candida killing supplements with meals. The list below is just a small sample of the different natural and alternative substances that will kill Candida. You will want to choose a minimum of 4 Candida killing alternatives for your protocol. Not much would be gained from employing more than five.
- Diatomaceous earth (food grade only)
- Wild oil of oregano
- Coconut oil
- Colloidal silver
- Pau d’arco tea
- Essiac tea
- Green tea
- Caprylic acid
- Alpha lipoic acid
- Grapefruit seed extract
- Ellagic acid
- Milk thistle
- Bob Beck Pulsar (for systemic candidiosis)
I recommend you have ten or twelve anti Candida supplements on hand. Within a few days Candida adapts to anti-fungal supplements. So, we pulse or rotate supplements to keep it off balance. More is not necessarily better but frequent changes are.
Candida Yeast, a normal part of the Gut’s Flora, has the ability to change into Candida Fungus, which is the point where Candida becomes a problem. The supplement Undecenoic Acid (available online through Dr. McCombs Plan or through vendors of Thorne Research SF722 ) helps inhibit the transformation of Candida yeast into the Candida fungal form. For this reason we suggest adding Undecenoic Acid to your Candida protocol
Your whole food and raw Candida diet adds natural anti-oxidants (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Astaxanthin & Caratenoids, Selenium, etc) supplementing significant levels of these or other antioxidants will assist in controlling the oxidants created by Candida’s voracious appetite for sugars.
Your Candida detoxification protocol can become pretty intense. This requires you observe well and listen carefully to your body. Too many Candida killing alternatives at a time and/or too much time spent using a Beck Pulsar can bring on a severe Herxhiemer reaction. Point is, work into your protocol slowly so you body isn’t overwhelmed with getting rid of the killed off fungus and bacteria. Common sense must be practiced. If in doubt go to your doctor and let them do the process.
If, after a couple of weeks on your protocol you are not seeing symptom improvement consider strongly contacting and working with your doctor. There are antifungal drugs (such as Nystatin) that are very safe and usually quite effective in attacking Candida overgrowth. Candida can become life threatening. Nystatin is a powerful tool that can make the difference. Don’t prolong your suffering for simply wishing to avoid taking a prescription drug.
As a cancer survivor consider making the coffee enema by itself a part of your regular cancer prevention protocol or regimen. Whether weekly, monthly or only on those occasions you feel particularly vulnerable, coffee enemas are an important tool for remaining in remission. There are legions of long term survivors of terminal stage IV cancers who have made coffee enemas a regular part of their cancer survival protocol.
A sizeable percentage of these long term survivors of so called terminal cancers do coffee enemas on a daily basis.
|Needing or desiring to rapidly rebuild good flora or bacteria in the bowel one may wish to consider performing a probiotic retention enema. This option is not necessary and simply sticking to your coffee enema and probiotic protocol will accomplish the task.
However, it is believed using a retention enema will bring the good bacteria in your system back to normal in less time. It is suggested you not accomplish a retention enema until you have used the coffee enema for at least one week.
It is also suggested you only use the probiotic retention enema infrequently, say once weekly during a major Candida episode and only a few times a year during normal times. Preparing for the probiotic retention enema you first use a filtered warm water enema (no coffee) to cleanse the lower bowel.
Prepare this probiotic mixture first, prior to starting you cleansing enemas so you have it ready and available close at hand. Open 8 Syntol AMD tablets (or equivalent, you are looking for approximately 25 million good bacteria) and stir the powdered contents into one pint of body temperature filtered water. Some prefer doing the cleansing enema with two quarts of warm water while others prefer to use one quart of warm water and perform the cleansing enema twice in close succession.
Once you have voided all the cleansing enema(s) pour the pint of probiotic mix into you enama container. On knees, head down infuse the mixture into you bowel going as slow as necessary not to lose control. Although all individuals and enemas are different because of the small amount (a pint of liquid verses the two quarts you are accustomed to) of liquid you should find little urge to void.
Once the pint is infused and you feel comfortable you do not have the urge to void you may lay down on your side for ease or comfort. Lay there relaxed for a minimum of 20 minutes, more if you like, until you are confident to can arise without needing to void. At this point most find they are able to continue with clean up, shower, etc with no urge to clear their bowel.
All the liquid will be absorbed into the body in two hours or less.
My personal experience has been that I am able to complete the day without any urge to have a bowel movement. Others have found after a few hours they have mild to moderate diarrhea.
There are no formal studies I could find supporting the use of the retention enema technique. There are a few anecdotal testimonials claiming great benefit.- Pdazzler
This concludes the Candida detoxification for cancer survivors series.
Video below is extremely educational on Candida, systematic Candida, Candida Albacans, how to identify fungal overgrowth or infections, and generally will give you a great overview of the problems and solutions of fungal imbalance in your body. It is from the website of Dr. Jeffrey S. McCombs, DC; ”Doctor McCombs Candida Plan“. Great resource for those with Candida or Candida questions.
