Building Protocols

Vitamin Cocktail

I’m reluctant to get into Vitamin, Mineral and Supplement Cocktails.   Why, you ask?   Like everything else in modern America, the building of a viable protocol using a cocktail of vitamins, minerals and herbs has become far more difficult than it once was.

In the early days of dealing with my personal cancer challenge (over 20 years ago) it was relatively easy to get quality ingredients with which to build your supplement cocktail.   As the years have passed more and more vitamin and supplement suppliers have been bought up by major corporations.   Where you once could buy name brand supplements with confidence you now have to do your home work.

The vast majority of supplements currently on the market are made from genetically modified ingredients (gmo) and using chemicals in the production process that are far from healthy.    Consequently, individuals planning to have real positive impact on cancer or other chronic disease using a regimen with vitamins, minerals and herbs must do their home work.   The time spent in due diligence before starting will pay off handsomely in positive results.

Whew, now that’s out of the way we’re going to talk common sense about building your first anti-cancer cocktail of supplements.     The first basic premise is “there is no magic bullet”.   Simply said, a single supplement or two will not control, manage or cure your cancer.   Cancer is complicated, just like life.

Think about it.  Even the traditional Oncologist uses a cocktail of several chemotherapy agents to attack cancer.   In fact, many times they turn to a multi-drug chemotherapy regimen, and then also work with other Doctors using radiation and surgery.  I like to call it the “dreaded trifecta”.

So, just like traditional medicine, you are going to work with a number of supplements in building your regimen or cocktail.   You will pick these vitamins, minerals and herbs based on the research you accomplish.    My recommendation is more is better than less when it comes to the number of supplements you build into your personal cancer regimen.

While 5 – 10 supplements are usually fine for someone whose cancer is in remission, my experience has been 15 is the minimum with 25 individual cocktail ingredients on the high side for addressing an active cancer.    The thought process you follow to build your protocol is more important than what those ingredients are.

Think about it.  There are dozens and dozens of supplement cocktails with anti-cancer viability written up in medical books, alternative medicine books, web postings, testimonials, etc.    Lots of things work.

My belief is the real cancer fighter, when you are using alternatives, is your personal immune system.   A wide variety of vitamins, minerals and herbs support, strengthen and assist your immune system in tackling your personal cancer challenge.

So, where did I start when building my personal cocktail(s)?  Start by finding out what has worked for others.   The Internet is an invaluable tool for researching what supplements other cancer survivors are using or have used to control, manage or cure their cancer.  You need to devote many hours of quality time researching what has worked for others.

You are looking for patterns of success.  When you find a supplement that a number of cancer survivors are using put that supplement on your “possible” list.   Spend more time on cancer forums run by individuals with nothing to sell and less time on manufacturer or industry controlled sources.

Most large charitable cancer websites are bought and paid for by corporate interests.   That doesn’t mean there isn’t good information to be had there but always consider the source of the information.  Again my experience has been individual cancer survivors, with no monetary connection to products being sold, are your most trusted sources,

For non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma I have found “Lymphoma Survival” by Robert Miller to be absolutely essential.   The forum on that website is worth several days of perusal for any fNHL patient.   Many forum members there are not “alternative” practitioners but a sizable number are.   If you are facing fNHL you can get a significant portion of your medical education there.

Let’s get back to anti-cancer cocktails.  Once you have built your list of possible supplements you need to investigate how each one of them works.

Example:  Vitamin C will show up on a significant number of regimens used by others.   If you are considering Vitamin C as one of your team members read everything you can about Vitamin C.   You will find it is a potent anti-oxidant which is important for tackling the free radicals thrown off by cancer.   And, Vitamin C is a detoxification agent, helping the body rid itself of any number of carcinogen agents.

Vitamin C intravenously administered is powerful in bringing about apoptosis in cancer cells.   Some Doctors use it as a stand along cancer drug.   The new Liposomal Vitamin C may even outpace intravenous Vitamin D in the years to come.    (See homemade Liposomal)

Vitamin C is also a supplement that has seen a dramatic drop in viability and quality due to the consolidation of suppliers I mentioned.    Fortunately, there is pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C readily available over the internet.

Once you have done your due diligence on your 1st possible cocktail candidate move on to the 2nd and do the same process.   Your goal is building a cocktail of immune system supporters which includes a handful of supplements that can actually kill cancer.
